It’s here!… received my TTGO T8 ESP32-S2 V1.1 ST7789 just the other day and now I’m finally going to have a play.
It’s full title is LILYGO® TTGO T8 ESP32-S2 V1.1 ST7789 1.14 Inch LCD Display WIFI Wireless Module Type-c Connector TF Card Slot Development Board.

TF Card Slot Development Board.
I purchased mine from Banggood. The price was quite good so I purchased two and also paid for faster freight. It took about three weeks to arrive and overall I’m happy with the service.
We’re just going to take a quick look today, because the plan is to load this one up with CircuitPython and put it through it’s paces (yes, I will be posting about that too)
On opening, I noted that the headers are not soldered. No big deal, just use a small tip soldering iron and if you need it (like me, the blind techie), lot’s of magnification and take your time.

Small tip soldering iron, and take your time.
Let everything cool down.
Find a Type-C USB to USB Cable, plug it in and fire everything up.
If all goes well this is what happens.

So, there you go, a quick peek at a really interesting device. And although my list of projects for this fascinatingly addictive hobby is long, my attraction to “bright shinny things” gets worse as I get older. Getting CircuitPython on this and doing some real coding will not be far off.
Stay turned…
